La Crescenta CA Real Estate

La Crescenta, California

Nestled in the Crescenta Valley to the south of the Angeles National Forest in the central part of Los Angeles County, La Crescenta is a beautiful and diverse area that has enjoyed rapid population growth in recent decades. Against the backdrop of the San Gabriel foothills, La Crescenta real estate offers some of the Los Angeles area's best deals on residential income property for established and aspiring rental owners alike. The existing stock of La Crescenta homes is generally newer, built to exacting Southern California specifications, and thus perfect for leasing to the area's mobile population.

La Crescenta Houses

The first La Crescenta houses were constructed in the late 19th century as real estate prospectors from Los Angeles moved north into the cool foothill valleys to look for promising sites for new residential development. They quickly saw the potential in La Crescenta real estate, and the area was soon a hotspot for investors in vacation homes looking to make a living off of the residential income property for which La Crescenta became known. Affluent outdoorsmen from nearby Los Angeles, as well as places further afield, were the first major buyers of La Crescenta houses. Although development has long since reached the valley, it retains a rustic atmosphere and continues to attract active residents with its extensive network of hiking and biking trails.

History of La Crescenta

The area is also popular with local history buffs. Unlike in many other L.A. County locales, much La Crescenta real estate is historically preserved, mainly by private individuals or organizations dedicated to maintaining an intact historical record. Le Mesnager Barn on Dunsmore Avenue, for example, is a century-old stone structure that housed one of California's first vineyards. The wives of prominent early investors in La Crescenta homes, meanwhile, built one of the state's first official women's organizations, the La Crescenta Women's Club. One of the state's longest-running social clubs, it remains in operation today.

La Crescenta Schools

Families looking for rentals and leases in this affluent area are drawn by its award-winning school district. The bulk of La Crescenta homes are serviced by the Glendale Unified School District, one of the county's best. The valley's two public high schools are Crescenta Valley High School and Clark Magnet High School, both of which have received National Blue Ribbon Awards in the past and are currently recognized as California Distinguished Schools.

These secondary schools are fed by a network of neighborhood primary schools, several of which are themselves National Blue Ribbon Award winners. The valley is also home to several excellent private K-8 schools, including church-affiliated institutions like Holy Redeemer Catholic School and Crescenta Valley Adventist School. Owners and renters of La Crescenta houses rarely have to drive very far to get their children to a great school, which is a plus considering the long commutes common to coastal L.A. County communities.

It's no wonder hundreds of people are moving to the valley and snapping up residential La Crescenta real estate each year. Call or e-mail today to learn about La Crescenta homes for sale today!
